Non-profit addiction recovery facility for men opens in Youngstown

 A new, non-profit recovery center has opened in Youngstown to help men struggling with addiction.

Broadway Recovery Services officially opened its doors this November to men across the Valley recovering from alcohol and drug addiction.

Operators said this is the largest men's sober living facility in Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley. 

The facility operates structured housing in four locations, supporting up to 45 individuals. 

Residents will live in a structured environment and have access to addiction services to aid in their recovery and in reconnecting with society.

For those who run the operation, the goal is long-term. 

Co-Founder and Executive Director, Adam Lonardo, said they wanted to give long-time treatment options for those who have just gotten out of the hospital or out of jail and also to help find long-term solutions to their problems. 

"There's an overwhelming need for sober living facilities in the Mahoning Valley recovery community, which has been described as "ground zero" in the opioid and methamphetamine crisis," said Lonardo. "This is one of the most important parts of the recovery process. Unfortunately, there are only a couple of structured sober living environments in the Youngstown area, and the waitlists are usually full."

Money from the services will be spent on transportation to required IOP education, drug testing at the facilities, and utilities. 

Residents also attend 12-step meetings regularly and are encouraged to participate in events together.

Residents must be 18 years or older and must be sober when they arrive at Broadway Recovery.
