A Trumbull County restaurant known for its Italian food celebrated 80 years in business in Niles on Friday.

Café 422 was started in 1939 by Guerino Abruzzi and Orazio Rossi.

The restaurant was purchased by a new owner in 2006 who kept the traditions alive while making some further improvements to the building.

"People know us for our homemade bread that we make every morning — hot peppers in oil that we have at the stores and here too. Eggplant parm is our biggest seller," Serdar Dede, Café 422 said.

The restaurant also has a location in Boardman on South Avenue.
