Youngstown City Schools CEO Justin Jennings announced Thursday that he plans to hold monthly meetings to keep families and the community involved with the district.

The meetings will be used to both inform the community and hear from them on what they think needs to be improved.

"I talk a lot about transparency, and I mean it," CEO Jennings said. "I understand how important it is in building relationships and establishing trust in the community."

The public meetings will be held on the second Wednesday of each month beginning on October 9 at noon in the Community Room at 20 W. Wood Street.

Jennings said he also plans to meet with members of the faith community on the second Tuesday of each month at 8:00 a.m. in the CEO Office at 20 W. Wood St.

On the fourth Tuesday of each month, he plans to hold morning and afternoon sessions with parents/guardians and community members at the CEO Office. Morning meetings will be held at 8:00 a.m. and afternoon meetings at 4:30 p.m.

Those meetings will be limited to the first 12 people who call the CEO's executive assistant at 330-744-6920 and ask to be added to the list.

"I'm looking forward to hearing from parents and community members to answer their questions and to learn about their concerns," he said.

Jennings said attempts would be made to allow everyone to attend at least one of the sessions.
