A Washingtonville man who has already served a seven-year prison term for raping a five-year-old girl is going back to prison for raping another five-year-old girl.
Acting on the recommendations from the prosecutor and defense attorney, Mahoning County Common Pleas Court Judge R. Scott Krichbaum handed down a ten-year-to-life prison sentence to 35-year-old Shawn Unger.
Sentencing came Tuesday right after Unger pleaded guilty to one count of rape.
Unger was sentenced to seven years in prison in 2011 as part of a plea deal that saved the five-year-old victim from testifying in the case.
Officials from the Department of Corrections said the day Unger was released on parole on February 25, 2018; he began raping another five-year-old child in Mahoning County.
Unger was found to be a sexually violent predator by the court in the previous case.
