A recall is underway for 258,000 table saws sold exclusively at Lowe's because of a possible fire hazard.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall of Porter Cable table saws due to the possibility that the motor can overheat, creating a fire hazard.
Manufacturer Chang Type says it has received 61 reports of the table saw motors overheating and causing fires.
Although no injuries have been reported, one person said that their home was damaged by smoke.
The Taiwanese made Porter-Cable brand 10” table saws with model number PCX362010 have a gray body with black accents and the Porter-Cable logo.
The model number and serial number are printed on the table saw’s nameplate, located on the back of the saw body near the bottom.
The saws were sold at Lowe's Stores nationwide from June 2016 through September 2018 for between $100 and $180.
People with the saws should stop using them immediately and contact Chang Type for a refund.
