In Sharon, the rain and heavy wind took out trees which ripped down power lines. Firefighters with Sharon Fire Department went from call to call Saturday morning and afternoon.

Cameron Bliss said, "I honestly thought it was going to be a hurricane. I woke up to getting rain through my window. I looked in the backyard, and I could not see anything. It was just horrible. The rain was just crazy."

Trees blocked streets and the Shenango Valley freeway. Some roads like Prindle were expected to be blocked to traffic for hours since Penn Power was working on downed lines throughout Mercer and Crawford counties.

Lt. Nicholas Samson said, "If you come across a down wire or if there is a storm and you have a downed wire on your property, call 911. Have the fire department and the power company respond. It is not worth risking your life. If barricades are up, don't go around them or in the taped off area. We blocked off some live wires on streets since we were told it could take hours for Penn Power to get there. They were busy responding to so many calls.  We also put firefighters at the scenes to help protect the public."

Kari Stewart says a neighbor believes a lightning strike may have taken out a tree in her yard on Sherman. Stewart said, "It took out part of the fence, the shed, and the neighbors house. I am thankful I live in a neighborhood that watches out for each other. The tree took out part of the fence, the shed, and the neighbors house. I was worried about my kids, but they are all safe. Once the tree is chopped up and removed, we will have enough wood for people who live in the neighborhood. We will also have food and a party to celebrate that no one was hurt. When God gives you lemons, make lemonade, or if you don't like lemonade, make pop sickles."
