With the 2018-2019 school year quickly coming to a close, YSU's facility staff is working on a multitude of projects some of those projects starting as early as next week.
"One of those is the Cafaro field project. That's going to be a full-size football field, lacrosse field. It's going to be used for a variety of intramural and club sports," says Associate Vice President for Facility Services John Hyden.
Several changes are coming to the parking across campus.
The tennis courts behind Stambaugh Stadium will now become the north-central parking lot. Students and staff will return to campus in the fall with a total of 300 new parking spots.
A large project coming to Stambaugh Stadium is the construction of the Don Constantini Multimedia Center.
"Our sports broadcasting will be held over there, so not only will they have a classroom," adds Hyden.
One of the largest projects will be the construction of the additive manufacturing multi-million dollar additive manufacturing MVICC Center.
"That's going to be a very well utilized facility. It's going to involve a lot more than just Youngstown State University. It's going to involve the community colleges and a whole list of other entities," says Hyden.
They expect for most, if not all of the projects to wrap by the start of the school year this fall.
