East Liverpool City Hospital has been named one of America's top hospitals in a study conducted by a subsidiary of IBM.

In addition to being named among top-performing Medium Community Hospitals by Watson Health, East Liverpool City Hospital also earned the Everest Award, which honors hospitals which are both high-performing and have made the fastest long-term improvement over five years.

The Watson Health study bases the findings on a scorecard using publicly available data for clinical, operational, and patient satisfaction. The study has been conducted annually since 1993.

The study reviewed survival rates, complications, infections, shorter stays, shorter ER wait times, lower inpatient expenses, higher profit margins, and higher patient satisfaction.

East Liverpool City Hospital was the only Valley hospital to make the list of 100 hospitals which was broken down into categories of Major Teaching Hospitals, Teaching Hospitals, Large Community Hospitals, Medium Community Hospitals, and Small Community Hospitals.
