An East Liverpool man caught up in an undercover sex sting along with 11 other men has been sentenced to prison and declared a sex offender.
Thomas Maylone Jr., 30, has been sentenced to one year in prison last week after pleading guilty earlier to one count of attempted unlawful sex with a minor and importuning.
Under Ohio law, importuning is soliciting someone for a sex act.
In addition, Mahoning County Common Pleas Court Judge John Durkin ordered Maylone to register as a Tier Two sex offender when he completes his sentence.
Maylone was among 12 other men rounded up by the Mahoning County Sheriff's Office and the Ohio Attorney General's Office during an undercover sex sting in August.
Those arrested were accused of attempting to have sex with underage children who were, in reality, undercover deputies.
The attorney general says the suspects traveled to a vacant home in Mahoning County with the intent to engage in a sexual encounter with a minor.
