A Warren man known as a father to many, not just his own, passed away suddenly on October 2.

Friday night, all of Freddie Washington's children, including nine biological, and the rest of the young people he took in to help, gathered to celebrate his life.

His daughters said many knew their dad in the Warren area as the man who would always lend a helping hand.

"He just gave back. If somebody needed it, he would give it. If someone needed the shirt off his back, he would give it to them. And he would walk around shirtless for real," said  Angel Washington.

Washington's loved ones gathered at Packard Park to celebrate his life.

The family has set up a go fund me account to help with expenses following the funeral.
