Boardman Police say a man picked up some marijuana plants and ran away before a search turned up nearly sixteen pounds of pot at his home.

Police say a Boardman man picked up some marijuana plants and ran away as they were conducting a search that turned up nearly sixteen pounds of pot at his home.
Officers say they arrested 59-year-old Douglas Hotchkiss and recovered three marijuana plants behind his home on the 7600 block of Hitchcock Road on Friday.
Police say Hotchkiss ran out the back door with the plants as they were serving a search warrant at his home, which according to police is within 1,000 feet of a school.
In addition to finding a scale, pipes, bongs and a handgun, officers collected 7,200 grams of marijuana from the home, which adds up to nearly 16 pounds.
Hotchkiss was booked into the county jail and arraigned Tuesday on charges of illegal cultivation of marijuana, resisting arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia and tampering with evidence.
