A Niles man is facing charges after allegedly assaulting a woman and not letting her leave his garage early Sunday morning.
Deputies were dispatched to the home on State Route 46 in Mecca Township for an unknown problem around 2:30 a.m.
The woman told police 34-year-old Robert Dotson had just left the residence and that he had been drinking and was in possession of two firearms.
According to the police report, authorities located his vehicle and pulled him over. Dotson complied with police but did appear to be under the influence of alcohol and had two handguns in his car.
He told police he and his girlfriend had been drinking at the Yellow Dog Bar earlier at night, where he admitted to having five beers and two shots, according to the police report.
Police say Dotson claimed the woman came over uninvited and was trespassing.
According to the report, when police got to the residence, the woman was bleeding from her face and had blood all over her hands, shirt, and pants.
The woman told police the fight between the couple started at the bar earlier in the night. The woman alleges Dotson hit her with a closed fist every time she attempted to take something that belonged to her.
The woman reported to police that Dotson wouldn't let her leave the garage.
Police say Dotson will not be charged with OVI because he was drinking within the legal limit.
Dotson has been booked in the Trumbull County Jail on charges of felonious assault, using weapons under disability, and unlawful restraint.
