A Sebring couple has been charged in Canton after police said the two overdosed on heroin, leaving their baby inside of their hot car.

The incident happened around 9:30 am on August 10 on Whipple Avenue Northwest.

Police said a witness called for help after they saw the couple, 33-year-old Cody Powell and 33-year-old Michelle Hall, laying on the ground in a parking lot.

Another bystander came and took the baby girl out of the backseat and gave her water.

It was about 80 degrees outside and the baby was sweating profusely, according to police.

Powell was found turning blue and not breathing, while Hall was unconscious on top of him, according to the police report.

Police said when they were about to revive Hall, she woke up. Powell was given three doses of Narcan.

The baby was taken to Mercy Medical Center for further treatment and was is in the custody of Mahoning County Children's Services.

Police searched the vehicle and found a used syringe in the middle console.

Powell later told police he bought heroin and the two injected it while in the parking lot, according to the report.

The two are both facing endangering children charges.

Powell plead not guilty in court last week and is expected in court again Monday afternoon.

Hall plead not guilty Monday and has a hearing is scheduled at a later date.
