A 29-year-old Boardman man has been charged with domestic violence and two counts of child endangering after firefighters were called to his home late Thursday.

According to a police report, a woman called 911 at 11:15 Thursday night claiming her boyfriend, Anthony Italiano, had set a fire on the couch of her Beachwood Drive home.

The woman, her two children, and Italiano made it out of the house without injury.

But when police arrived at the scene soon after, her story changed.

She then told police she did not see Italiano start the fire and he told police he did not do it.

According to the report, Italiano told police he had been drinking earlier.

The woman did say they were having an argument before the fire and Italiano had pulled out a pistol and pointed it at her.

After more arguing, she said she went outside to smoke a cigarette and smelled smoke coming from inside the house.  She saw Italiano still sitting at the kitchen table but a fire had started in the living room.

Fire investigators say there were no signs that the fire was intentionally set but they are still searching for the cause.

Much of the front of the house suffered severe fire damage.

Police are charging the man because he pointed the gun at the woman, which they say put her and her children in danger.

Italiano is free on bond which was set at $5,000.  He is scheduled to appear in Boardman Court next week to answer to the charges.
