Mahoning County Career and Technical Center has named its newest superintendent.

The center's Governing Board announced Tuesday that John Zehentbauer was selected as the new superintendent effective August 1.

"The Board is very proud and excited to hire John Zehentbauer as Superintendent.  He started as a career technical teacher and advanced through the administrative ranks.  He is unwavering in his passion and commitment to MCCTC's mission and goals of educating high school and adult students," said Attorney Kathi McNabb Welsh, President of MCCTC's Governing Board. 

"Career technical education is at the forefront of education right now and I am honored to not only lead the school but also provide guidance for workforce development in the area. The students and staff are incredible and I am looking forward to taking on this new role," said Zehentbauer. 

Zehentbauer has been at the Mahoning County Career and Technical Center since 1991 when he taught Aviation Maintenance Technology for eight years.

He then served as Career Technical Supervisor from 2000-2007 before moving on to become the MCCTC Director.

Most recently, Zehentbauer has served as Assistant Superintendent of the school.

He earned his Bachelor's and Master's degrees at Kent State University where he is also an adjunct professor
