New rides and a first at this year's Canfield Fair
"They're huge, they're spectacular" And they're going to be the stars of the 172nd edition of the Canfield Fair."

"They're huge, they're spectacular," said Dave Dickey.
And they're going to be the stars of the 172nd edition of the Canfield Fair.
"These rides are Cedar Point quality rides," said fair board president Dave Dickey.
Much of Tuesday's media day at the fairgrounds revolved around the new rides.
They're being brought in through a new ride vendor, Reithoffer Shows, and they're coming from all corners of the world.
"Italy, Germany, Holland," says Reithoffer's David Grimm. "We'll probably have 10 rides this year that the customers have never seen before"
And since the new rides are bigger, more people can ride them and not have to wait as long.
Officials also promise they'll be the safest rides.
"We'll be bringing in the Ohio State Department of Agriculture inspectors," said Grimm. "Our own people, they inspect every day as well, there's paperwork on the rides."
In addition to the new and exciting rides at this year's fair, there's also going to be a first.
"We're going to have mules under saddle racing a quarter mile," says fair board member Elwood Woolman. "There's only one other fair in Ohio that does that."
And that's in addition to harness racing and quarter horses.
There will also be more than four thousand animals at this year's fair, and of course that one of a kind fair food.
It all makes for an experience that promises fun and lasting memories for everyone.
"A lot of people meet at the fair and it's pretty neat to see everybody have their reunions here," said Dickey.
The 172nd Canfield Fair runs August 29 through September 3.
