For the third year, Youngstown City School District will provide supplies to its students.
"The costs of school supplies really add up. We want to alleviate that financial strain on our families while at the same time, making sure our students begin the school year with the tools they need," said CEO Krish Mohip.
According to the school district, last year's annual report for school supply costs totaled between $660 and $1,5000. The higher costs were reported for high school students.
District officials say backpacks with the YCSD logo filled with school supplies will be distributed to students.
Youngstown Early College students begin classes on August 14. All others schools in the district resume classes on August 22.
