The annual breast cancer awareness fundraiser in Youngstown has raised more than two million dollars with the help of Sunday's event.
The Panerathon, which brings together supporters of all ages to support breast cancer awareness and the Joanie Abdu Comprehensive Breast Cancer Care Center, raised more then $400,000 this past weekend, bring their grand total over eight years to a new record high.
Thousands took to the streets of downtown Youngstown to walk, run, volunteer, and watch the Panerathon.
Final numbers from the Covelli Centre say that more 11,000 people were involved, putting the 2017 Panerathon on par with previous years.
All proceeds for Panerathon support Joanie's Promise Fund at the Mercy Health Foundation Mahoning Valley.
Funds raised through Panerathon have helped fund a state-of-the-art mobile mammography van that has already performed more than 500 mammograms during its first year in operation.
The Panerathon is set up every year in conjunction with Covelli Enterprises and the Joanie Abdu Comprehensive Breast Cancer Center.
