A 25-year-old Mercer County man is charged with sex crimes for allegedly molesting a ten-year-old girl as she slept.

Merlin Stutzman of Fredonia, Pennsylvania was arraigned Thursday on charges of corruption of minors, and three counts of indecent assault.

According to a criminal complaint, Stutzman touched the girl's vaginal area and unbuttoned her shirt to fondle her breast and while the two were riding in a fifteen passenger van through Delaware Township.

The girl told investigators that she fell asleep three times during the van ride and woke up each time to find that Stutzman was molesting her.

The police officer who interviewed Stutzman says the suspect confessed to the crimes, saying he had the “urge for something”.

A district magistrate set Stutzman's bond at $5,000. His next hearing is scheduled for August 10.
