Information provided by a Sharon woman helped lead to the arrest of an Ashtabula, Ohio man wanted in connection with the kidnapping and murder of a thirteen year old girl.

According to an affidavit filed in Mercer County District Court, the woman told Ashtabula police that John Bove had visited her Stambaugh Avenue apartment in Sharon, and told her that he had gone out with his friend's 13-year-old daughter and “things went south”.

The woman says that Bove told her that he shot and killed the teen.

She says Bove showed her the gun he said he used to shoot the girl. The woman says she took a picture of the gun that he had left on the night stand as he slept.

The information prompted Ashtabula police to ask authorities in Sharon to be on the lookout for a 1996 Toyota Camry that Bove had allegedly stolen in Ashtabula and had driven to Sharon.

Sharon police spotted the car on Thursday and after a chase, officers apprehended Bove.

The affidavit also sheds light on the reason why Bove is a suspect in the disappearance of 13-year-old Kara Zdanczewski.

Ashtabula police say that the teen was taken from her Ashtabula home on Tuesday by Bova at the suggestion of the girl's parents.

Stanly and Deanna Zdanczewski had been arguing, and according to the affidavit, they didn't want their daughter to see them fighting any more.

Bove drove away with their daughter, and that's the last time the parents saw her.

After the 13-year-old hadn't reported for class at Lakeview High School for two days and the parents hadn't seen their daughter, they contacted police on Thursday.

Police filed charges of kidnapping and auto theft against Bove on Thursday, which is the same day the body of a young girl was found in Saybrook Township, which is between Ashtabula and Geneva on the Lake.

Although the coroner has not positively identified the body or issued a ruling in the cause of death, Ashtabula police believe the body is that of Kara Zdanczewski.

Police also have not said how they believe the girl died,

In addition to kidnapping, a police report lists other possible charges in the case as aggravated murder, abuse of a corpse, obstructing justice, and destroying evidence.

As of Friday afternoon, a check of Ohio records show Bove was still only charged with kidnapping and car theft in Ashtabula Municipal Court.

A District Magistrate in Mercer County set Bove's bond at $1 million during his Friday arraignment on charges of fleeing an officer, receiving stolen property and use or possession of drug paraphernalia.

Bove remained in the Mercer County Jail unable to post bond.

According to online records, Bove was given a five to fifteen year sentence for raping a woman in New York.  He was designated as a sexually violent offender, and is required to register his address.

Police in Ashtabula say intend to have Bove extradited to Ohio to face charges.
