Investigators are looking for the cause of a fire that destroyed a barn in Poland Township.

Crews from several fire departments were called to the fire near the intersection with Arrel Road at around 11:45 Tuesday morning.

Thick black smoke towered over the area as flames raced through the barn.

According to the chief of the Western Reserve Joint Fire District, no livestock were harmed by the fire, but heavy equipment and hay stored inside the barn were destroyed.

The owner of the barn was out of town at the time of the fire, according to the chief.

Struthers Road was closed between Arrel and Miller Roads while crews battled the blaze.
