The Youngstown Air Reserve Station is inviting the Valley to take a close look at how the men and women who work there help preserve our freedom.

One of the area’s largest employers is holding an open house this weekend to highlight the mission of the 910th Airlift Wing, the Air Force Reserve and the capabilities of the United States military.

The event is warm-up for the Thunder Over the Valley Air Show in June of next year which will feature aerial performances headlined by the United States Air Force Thunderbirds,

YARS has released details of the open house event, including parking and shuttle service information.

The gates open at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, followed at 11:00 a.m. by opening ceremonies at the Youngstown Air Reserve Station Show Center.

There will be no flying exhibits, but the event features displays of 910th Airlift Wing C-130 Hercules aircraft and ground equipment including the Modular Aerial Spray System which can be used on a variety of missions, including large scale mosquito spraying operations.

Guests can sample interactive displays, as well as food from local vendors.

The open house concludes at 4:00 p.m.
