Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday for a single performance by Lionel Richie at Youngstown's Covelli Centre.

In his only scheduled 2016 U.S. appearance outside of Las Vegas, the Grammy Award winning artist will headline the first Southwoods “Concert for the Valley” on August 27 at the Covelli Centre.

During his stint with The Commodores, Richie's distinctive style helped produce such hits as “Brick House”, “Just To Be Close To You”, “Too Hot Ta Trot” “Three Times A Lady”, “Stuck On You”, “Still” and “Easy.”

His ability to turn out hits continued after 1981 when he went solo, bringing fans songs like “Endless Love,” “Truly,” “All Night Long,” “Hello,” and “Say You (Say Me)”, just to name a few.

Richie has sold 100 million albums, won an Academy Award, a Golden Globe, four Grammy Awards, five People’s Choice Awards, and 16 American Music Awards.

Southwoods’ Concert for the Valley was created to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of The Surgical Hospital at Southwoods.

Ed Muransky, President and CEO of The Muransky Companies and Southwoods Health, sees the concert as giving back to the community in many ways, including bringing exciting, big name artists to the Mahoning Valley.

As part of the 20th anniversary celebration, Chris and Ed Muransky and The Muransky Companies will be contributing to the Youngstown State University Foundation dedicated to healthcare initiatives, and to the United Way of the Mahoning Valley for children’s programs.
