A Salem man faces serious charges in connection with a traffic accident in which he and two other people were seriously injured.

The Mahoning County Grand Jury on Wednesday handed up an eight count indictment charging 36-year-old Nicholas Wolfe with aggravated vehicular assault, operating a vehicle under the influence, improper passing, reckless operation, and driving an unsafe vehicle.

State Troopers say Wolfe was driving an SUV that struck a car he was attempting to pass in a no-passing zone along State Route 165 in Goshen Township on August 6th.

Wolfe and his passenger, Robert Kastenek of Salem, were seriously injured when they were thrown from the SUV as it rolled over several times.

The driver of the car was also injured.

Tests indicate that at the time of the crash, Wolfe had marijuana in his system and a blood alcohol content that exceeded .08 percent.
