Juvenile admits sending messages that caused St. Rose School shutdown
Girard Police say they interviewed a juvenile who admitted sending Instagram messages that prompted the cancellation of classes at St. Rose School on Wednesday.
Parents received a robocall alert at 5:30 a.m., telling them that classes had been called off for the safety of the students at the request of Police.
Pastor Monsignor John Zuraw tells 21 News that concerns were raised after a former student sent the messages Monday night.
Girard Police Chief Jeffrey Palmer tells 21 News that the postings sent to several students were not threatening or violent in nature. However, Palmer says that the messages were suspicious and disturbing.
Police say a juvenile admitted creating a false Instagram account and sending the messages. The information will be turned over to the Trumbull County Prosecutor.
School officials say classes will resume Thursday.
