Sharon shooting suspect caught after Greenville robbery

The search is over for a Farrell man accused of shooting two 17-year-old boys earlier this month.
Sharon Police Chief Gerald Smith tells 21 News that 34-year-old Quentin Mathews was arrested in Greenville Tuesday night following a home invasion robbery in that community.
Mercer dispatch confirms that the owner of the home was wounded during that Greenville robbery.
Chief Smith says his department had been looking for Mathews in connection with an incident that began at about 2 a.m. Oct. 17 in a car in the 600 block of New Castle Avenue.
Smith says Mathews was a front seat passenger in a car that had stopped to pick up two teen in Farrell. One of the teenagers, riding behind the driver, began to argue with Mathews who turned toward the back seat and shot him three times, twice near his eye and once in the biceps of his left arm, according to the Chief.
Police say Mathews shot a second teen in the shoulder.
The victims managed to escape and call police from a nearby home.
The small caliber bullets did not penetrate the boy’s skull, and he has been released from the hospital.
After searching for Mathews for several days, police on Monday issued a public alert for the suspect, seeking any information about his whereabouts.
Matthews is in the Mercer County jail after failing to post a $150,000 bond.
He’s charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault, recklessly endangerment and prohibited possession of a gun.
Mathews is also expected to face charges in connection with the Greenville robbery.
