A man and woman from Butler County were seriously injured in a head-on crash in Mercer County on Saturday.

State Police say seventy-two-year-old Raymond Gray and fifty-seven-year-old Pamela Gray of West Sunbury, Pa sustained multiple trauma injuries when a Chevy Cruze ran into the front of their Toyota Corolla on Route 358 at the I-79 interchange at 1:30 p.m.

Police say the Cruze, driven by 27-year-old Aaron Sapp of Pittsburgh, swerved into the path of the Toyota to avoid a Chevy Impala that had stopped at the interchange.

Neither the driver of the Cruze nor the the driver of the Impala were injured.

Route 358 was temporarily shut down to allow the landing of two medical helicopters which transported the Grays to Saint Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown.
