A Niles man led police on a car and foot chase before being apprehended Thursday night.

Jeffrey Foster, 26, was pulling on to Brewster Drive when Howland Township Police say he turned into the wrong lane.

According to a police report, a patrol officer attempted to make a traffic stop, but the suspect ignored the cruiser's light and sirens and drove away.  The officer pursued the suspect on Brewster Drive, South Street, and State Route 46 before police say Foster accelerated through a red light.

Foster then allegedly exited his vehicle on SR-46 and ran into a section of nearby woods.

Foster's foot race did not last long as he was soon spotted by a Niles police officer behind Burlington Plaza.  The officer apprehended Foster and took him into custody.

An ambulance was called after Foster complained of back pain stemming from the chase; however, emergency vehicle was called off when Howland Police arrived at the scene.

After identifying the suspect, police discovered that Foster had a suspended driving license and was the subject of two active arrest warrants.  Additionally, Foster's vehicle was later discovered to have been stolen from his girlfriend.  She refused to press charges for the stolen vehicle.

Foster was charged with failure to comply with a police order or signal, driving under suspension, and improper turn.  He pleaded not guilty to all charges Friday morning, and his preliminary hearing is set for July 20th at the Warren Municipal Court.

Foster is currently being held in the Trumbull County Jail.
