Struthers honors graduates, veterans during commencement

STRUTHERS, Ohio - Seniors at Struthers' commencement were joined by some extra graduates Sunday afternoon.
The graduates hadn't gone to school all year but instead left school to serve their country many years before.
Struthers High School in conjunction with the Struthers Fallen Soldier Project awarded seven veterans honorary high school diplomas during the ceremony.
The veterans had left school to serve their tour of duty in World War II, the Korean and Vietnam Wars.
Roy J. Blisard, Rinaldo C. Carrabbia, John G. Gbur, George E. Kutlesa, Raymond P, Ornelas, William C. Pompeii and Eugene S. Yuhas were honored either in person, or posthumously with members of their families accepting the degree for the veterans who had passed.
William Pompeii, who's degree was accepted by his children, was awarded his diploma on the same day that his grandsons Brett and Christian Nemeth also graduated from Struthers.
In all, five generations of Wildcats were honored at the commencement.
