A local union gathered in Lordstown at the General Motors plant – not to protest GM, but to picket the company that transports the finished cars.
Richard Sanberg of Teamster Local #337 said the union has no quarrel with GM or the motor giant's driving and transport company, Cassens Transport. He said the concern is the workers of Fleet Cars Carriers, a nonunion company based out of Colorado.
“We are not protesting General Motors or Cassens,” Sandberg said. “We were picketing area standards – wages, pension, health and welfare of Fleet Car.”
Attempts made Saturday to contact spokespersons from General Motors and Fleet Car were unsuccessful.
