Youngstown is welcoming four new police officers to the force.

Brandon Caraway, Mark Sember, Jeffry Savnik and Chase Lemke were sworn-in before friends, family members and city officials on Monday morning.

Lemke told 21 News that he decided to follow his father's footsteps. "My father is a retired police officer, Just something I am proud of and this city is proud of. I'm just excited to get out there," said Lemke.

Police Chief Robin Lees says the new hires will help with fill openings on the squad which were made available due to attrition.

The chief tells us this the department plans to hire more officers over the next few months.
