A local attorney is dead after a fatal accident in Swanton. 


Robert Melnick, 58, of Salem was killed after a semi truck failed to slow down as traffic entered a construction zone. 


According to police the driver of the semi first collided with Melnick's car and then five other cars. 


Five others were injured during the crash, two were taken by helicopter to the hospital with life threatening injuries, three others were taken by ambulance to local hospitals. 


The driver of the semi truck could possibly face charges in the crash. 


Police closed the eastbound lanes of the Ohio Turnpike, near mile marker 48, for several hours while the cleared the scene.
