A 29-year-old Youngstown man is going to prison for fatally shooting a man on the north side of Youngstown.

Janero Mitchell was sentenced on Monday to life behind bars without parole for the murder of 57-year-old Mark Haskins.

Haskins was shot in the chest outside his home at Bissel and Kensington Avenues in October of 2012. Witnesses say the men were arguing before the shooting occurred.

He was found guilty of aggravated murder and a weapons violation.

Mitchell was defiant before he was sentenced, telling the court that he did not commit the crime.

"To the family: I understand your pain. I lost an older brother myself. My family knows how it feels. But justice was not served in this case," Mitchell said.
