A man from Youngstown is the apparent victim of a drowning just across the Pennsylvania border in Lawrence county.
Officials say they were called out to an old quarry off Eric Drive in Mahoning Township just after 7:30 p.m. Monday.
Dive teams were called in to search for the missing swimmer. A body was recovered just before 10:00 p.m.
Mahoning Township Police Chief James Morris says the victim was swimming in the abandoned quarry, "It's a private quarry, but often times people will sneak in and use it to swim and that's what apparently happened. The water is cold, very, very cold."
The name of the victim has not been released. The Lawrence County Coroner is expected to make a determination on the exact cause of death sometime Tuesday.
