Speed limit now 70 mph on parts of Route 11
COLUMBUS, Ohio - Drivers who like the speed limit along the Ohio Turnpike may also like the new speed limit along most of route 11.
As of Sunday, the maximum speed has increased from 65 miles per hour to 70 miles per hour along rural portions of the highway that runs from Lake Erie to the Ohio river.
The increased limit applies to the stretch of highway from Ashtabula city limits, to route 82 in Trumbull County.
The speed limit then goes back to 65 mph through the rest of Trumbull County and Mahoning County, until the southern city limits of Canfield.
From Canfield to the northern end of East Liverpool, the 70 mph speed limit resumes.
According to the Ohio Highway Patrol, the new limit applies to all vehicles, including 18 wheelers.
The speed increase was part of the state budget bill passed by the legislature over the summer.
The same bill hiked the speed limit to 70 miles per hour on rural portions of interstates such as routes 76 and 71 back in July.
