YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - The city of Youngstown has selected a contractor to build a new fire station on the south side and the Brownlee Woods area.

The city Board of Control on Thursday chose Murphy Contracting for the 900-thousand-dollar project near Ipes Field.

Murphy was one of five contractors that submitted bids to build Fire Station number nine.

The new station will replace an existing fire station on Midlothian Boulevard.

A groundbreaking date will be announced in a couple of weeks.
