COLUMBIANA, Ohio - The Treasury Department has sold a Columbiana jewelers inventory to help repay $385,000 in back taxes and penalties
A federal judge turned down William Kimpel's request for a temporary restraining order that would have stopped Thursday's Internal Revenue Service auction of jewelry and gems from Kimpel's WRK Rarities.
In court documents, Kimple claims that embezzlers forced his previous business, Kimples Jewelry, into bankruptcy.
Kimple said the auction would cause irreparable damage to his new business.
The government claims that Kimple is trying to avoid tax liability.
