Hometown:  Tallmadge, Ohio

Education:  St. Vincent St. Mary High School, John Carroll University

Career Path:  Started at ABC in Akron during college as the weekend sports anchor and news reporter. After our station fired everyone because it turned into a home shopping network, latched on in Cleveland at WOIO/WUAB as a sports producer. From there it was off to WFMJ where I anchored the sports with Sports Director Dana Balash. After five years here, I made the transition to the morning show as the live "Out and About" reporter and became the anchor of the morning show in February 2012.

Interest and Hobbies:  Love sports, both watching and playing. Now that I'm old, I've hung up the sports that are more aggressive and turned to golf; which is one of my favorite things to do these days. you know, if the weather ever gets nice.

Why did you choose to get into broadcast journalism?  Decided that I wasn't going to be a major league pitcher because guys that throw 78 miles per hour don't usually make it. I figured calling the action was almost as good.

What time do you go to bed and get up each morning? I try to go to bed before 9:00 p.m. and get up around 3:00 a.m. But let's be honest, six hours just isn't enough.

What's your favorite part of your job?  Best part of the job is making people smile and entertaining every morning. Would rather be a game show host, but this is the next best thing.

Personal:  I have two kids. My son, Mario, is the oldest and my daughter, Natalia, is a couple years younger than him. They alternate between driving me crazy and making me smile.

You can watch Mike weekday mornings from 5:00-7:00 a.m. on WFMJ Today.
