Shooting sparks controversy over violence at Warren bar

WARREN, Ohio - The future of a Warren bar is in question after a weekend shooting that critically injured a neighbor.
Forty-three-year-old Pamela Dial has been hospitalized after being shot in the head by a stray bullet from the Olympic Inn parking lot on Parkman Road.
The Olympic Inn is currently "closed until further notice" according to a sign on the bar door.
City Councilman Eddie Colbert gave credit to the bar owner for taking the action, but still thinks the rate of violence at the bar is problem to be dealt with.
Colbert says that he wants to see the bar closed, but said the option is not on the table until more information is available. The councilman wants to talk with the mayor, safety director, residents and the bar owner before making any decisions. "I want to hear [the bar owner's] side," Colbert said.
A number of measures can be taken by city council to penalize the bar, including removing the DJ, preventing the renewal of the bar's liquor license, or issuing a nuisance order.
Colbert said that while he is open to conversation, he believed that "the quality of life of the citizens living in the area far outweighs any salvaging of the situation."
No action has been taken by city council as of yet.
