Newton Falls residents vote to recall mayor

NEWTON FALLS, Ohio- Voters in Newton Falls decided it was time for a change Thursday, voting to recall Mayor Patrick Layshock.
In a special election, Lyle Waddell was elected the next mayor of the city, by a margin of 526 to 500.
Waddell has worked in the city's planning and zoning department for the last 12 years.
"I would like to start by stopping the bickering at council meetings. It's a business meeting. It's not a place to bring your personal gripes. If you have complaints, there are channels to run those through. We need to look at the city financially. We need to look at the city economically and we need to move forward," Waddell said.
Layshock said he serves at the pleasure of the people and accepts their decision.
Waddell will take office once the votes are certified by the Trumbull county board of elections on November 23.
