DEERFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio- A Deerfield family is relying on the community and each other after losing all of their possessions in a house fire.

Gay and Dan Snyder, along with their 11 children and grandchildren, are staying with their oldest daughter after a fire destroyed their house on Tuesday night.

"We just got out with our pajamas on and bare feet in the snow and got in the van and as we started pulling out we realized the whole end of the house was engulfed in flames. The children's rooms, the roof, the porch," Gay Snyder said.

The Snyders said they are thankful that they and their children, including three who were adopted from Haiti and Liberia, escaped the fire without injury.

"We just praise the Lord for our safety and that we're all together," she said.

The family is still maintaining their farm and a relative is collecting donations to replace school supplies the children, who are home schooled, lost.

"We're just taking it one day at a time and we're just glad to be together. It makes you realize it's just stuff. Just a house and all your stuff that you can live without," Dan Snyder said.
