Darlene Kimbrough Rogers, the first black woman elected to Youngstown City Council, has died at age 86 from complications from Parkinson's disease, according to her obituary.

Kimbrough Rogers was born in Youngstown and graduated from South High School. She earned her bachelor's degree from Youngstown State University in 1960 and got her master's degree in social work from Case Western Reserve and worked as an adjunct professor in the African American Studies department at YSU.

Rogers served her community as the 3rd Ward Councilperson.

Rogers moved to Maryland 12 years ago.
