Austintown Township is being officially designated as an 'America 250 Community' as the United States approaches the 250th anniversary of signing the Declaration of Independence.

According to an announcement from Austintown Township Trustee Robert Santos, as an 'America 250 Community', events and activities will be organized aimed at bring residents together to celebrate the shared heritage of the States.

Austintown is being given a year to prepare, with the festivities taking place in 2026 during the anniversary year. Trustee Santos states that activities would likely take place during Family Fun Day.

Details of the events and activities will be announced soon. Residents are encouraged to participate and share ideas for celebrations.

"Being recognized as an 'America 250 Community' is a tremendous honor for Austintown Township," said Trustee Santos.

Trustee Santos stated that he wanted to thank his fellow Austintown Township Trustee members Monica Deavers and Bruce Shepas. Trustee Santos also wished to thank Austintown Township Fiscal Officer Laura Wolfe.
