A water main break in downtown Youngstown overnight had caused several customers in the surrounding area to lose service.

The break happened around 11 p.m. Tuesday just outside the Federal restaurant on Federal Street in downtown Youngstown.

Youngstown Water Commissioner Harry Johnson spoke with 21 News to say that as of 3:05 p.m. Wednesday, December 18, service has been restored to the area and both lanes are open again.

Crews with the Youngstown Water Department worked through the night to solve the issue. At this time, crews still do not know what caused the issue.

Due to the break, opening for the Oh WOW! Science Center had been delayed to 11 a.m. instead of 9 a.m. As for other businesses, Johnson told 21 News The Federal was the only business without water at the moment.
