One of the two northbound lanes of State Route 11 has reopened in Columbiana County after firefighters put out flames on a tractor-trailer.

The fire broke out on the trailer's rear tires as the truck traveled in Fairfield Township between the State Route 154 Rogers interchange and the State Route 344 Columbiana Interchange just after 5:15 a.m. Tuesday.

The driver told Troopers that he tried to douse the fire with an extinguisher, but the tires re-ignited.

The tanker did not contain anything flammable according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

State Troopers reopened one northbound lane after the fire was put out at around 6 a.m.

Drivers can expect slow going until the truck can be towed.

There have been no reports of injuries.
