A fatal crash is slowing traffic along the westbound lanes of Interstate 80 in Austintown.

A tractor-trailer and a Dodge Ram pickup truck were involved in the accident around 11 a.m. just west of Route 46.

The tractor-trailer, driven by 53-year-old Davit Fluidze, was traveling eastbound when it crossed through the center median and struck the pickup truck, which was traveling westbound.

The tractor trailer then continued through the guardrail and down an embankment on the north side of Interstate 80. 

Austintown Township Fire Department, ODOT, OSP and Austintown Police all responded to the incident. 

The driver of the Ram pickup truck was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Two of the four westbound lanes remain closed. 

The crash is under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
