Crews from three counties battle catering business fire near New Castle

Investigators are looking for the cause of a fire that brought firefighters from three counties to a historic Lawrence County building that now houses a catering business.
Dispatchers called crews at around 1 a.m. Thursday to a building that was once home to the Village Inn on Harlansburg Road near Perry Highway.
The first firefighters to arrive found smoke and flames inside the building which is the headquarters of JPC Event Group, a catering company that has been serving Northwest Pennsylvania for nearly 25 years.
A search of the building found no one inside. The fire was under control in about a half-hour.
Tanker trucks carried water to the scene and several aerial ladders were dispatched to fight the fire at the two-story building.
The state fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire which was confined to a kitchen area.
Just last month, JCP Event Group owners Rick and Jody Wimer announced on Facebook that they are no longer accepting weddings or events at off-premise locations, but will only be focusing on their managed or exclusive venue locations
According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the Village Inn closed for business in 2008.
