A fire broke out in an attached garage of a Shenango Township home, destroying it Wednesday afternoon.
It happened around 1 p.m. in the 2900 block of Cornell Avenue in Shenango Township.
First crews arrived in three minutes, and the garage was already fully engulfed with a pickup truck inside.
An elderly couple was at home at the time of the fire.
They both were able to escape the home on their own.
Firefighters worked to stop the fire from spreading. However, the fire moved to the home, destroying it.
Officials are calling the fire accidental.
Fire departments from Ellwood City and New Castle were called to assist.
Shenango Fire Chief, David Rishel, says the couple "literally lost everything" in the fire but believes the loss is covered by insurance.
According to Rishel, the fire spread quickly due to high winds at the time.
The Red Cross is helping the couple who live at the home.
Crews do not believe anyone else was injured.
