Civilians administer CPR to Cortland officer involved in crash
A Cortland Police Officer is in the hospital after crashing their vehicle while suffering a medical emergency Saturday evening.
A Cortland Police Officer is in the hospital after crashing their vehicle while suffering a medical emergency Saturday evening.
It happened around 6:30 p.m. on State Route 5 near the McDonald's.
Troopers said the officer is currently undergoing medical care.
They say the officer was the only one involved in the crash.
Bazetta police, Trumbull County Sheriffs Office, Warren police, Howland police, and Mercy Health police all assisted Cortland PD at the scene.
Police said several civilians stopped to assist the officer and also rendered medical care, including CPR until the fire department arrived.
Police ask those people to contact CPD at 330-675-2730 as soon as possible.
Police are not releasing any more information at this time on the officer's current condition.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating.
