A new children's area is opening at the Liberty Library on Churchill-Hubbard Road Saturday afternoon.

The new enclosed outdoor area is being dedicated to a longtime library patron, Janet Miller Casey.

Construction on "Jan's Corner" began in mid-August.

Funding for the project was provided through the Janet Miller Casey Memorial Endowment and private donations.

"Jan's Corner" will provide children and their families with a welcoming outdoor area.

The enclosed 1,233 square-foot space is located on the east side of the library and features a walkway leading to bronze fencing with brick columns and is adorned with flowering landscaping, a picnic table, and two benches.

Children who visit the area will be able to play on a sensory path, hopscotch pavers, and a chalk pad.

Construction and landscaping were done by Applegate Furniture, Sharon Fence, Swing On! Playsets and Ultimate Landscaping.
